I feel Ps3 was about 3 years or so more advanced than the market was ready for. Pushing the fact it had blue-ray before a large number of people even cared. yes it has built in wireless, but with a price tag of over 500 when it came out. Who was going to go for it when PS2 was getting titles like GOW2. then as prices for all systems went down the X-box was just that much more inticing.

i got mine on sale NEW fer 149.99 .. no red ring .. get me a PS3 for that price. now i will admit its down now but Popularity has alot to do with first impressions

PS3 (hardcore system, Hardcore Pricetag)
X-Box (Well Rounded System, Well Rounded Pricetag)
Wii (Family and Kids System Low Price)

From my own look on the systems. X-box is doing it now getting it done, PS3 is Bringing tomarows gaming to today but the market wasnt ready. Wii is Creating a whole new type of gaming and grabbing up the soon to be gamers.

The PS3 only had a CPU and Blu-Ray Combo that was 'ahead of its time' - the GPU isn't going to pull anything spectacular from nowhere though - its a Geforce 7800.

The 360 has a slightly better GPU Base (Radeon X1900 Series with a few DX10 Tidbits and 10MB eDRAM) but its going to showing its age soon too - and the 360's CPU is going to 'run out of steam' soon enough also.

I'm an owner of obth Consoles - I love my 360 to bits - but am not biaed and thus wholly willing to concede that the PS3 has a FREAKIN' AWESOME CPU and Blu-Ray I guess (I actually don't care much about this one - games should use less psace anyway - less space means less data has to be ransferred - decreasing loading times, etc. Protip - pre-rendered cinematics are a things of the past - do it in realtime - with this in mind - a game REALLY should not need more than 9GB of space.)

whats the point in having an awesome CPU if nobody develops games to take advantage of it? and the bluray drive on PS3 is too slow, its why PS3 games take longer to load. if you've ever played Tekken 6 or Street Fighter IV online on PS3 and 360 you will know this is a big deal.

I only own the ps3 and I think its a decent system and it feels like the system is finally taking off in baby steps. I do like the firmware updates that keeps the system evolving after time.

I played the 360 and wii at a friends house, I think they are both good systems as well. The 360 has some features that I wish that the ps3 had and I thought the wii was actually a lot more entertaining than I thought it was going to be. But Its difficult for me to see myself investing in other systems. Maybe a wii if anything.

But over all I think the ps3 and the 360 has its equal share of pro's and con's, it just depends if you prefer an apple or a orange.

Wii - USB external HD + Bootloader + game images = 500GB of awesome. (450GB of that is absolute shit, but your friends will be so damned impressed by your setup they won't care that you're still playing the demo disk.)

360 - Easy to flash, games are kind of a chore to rip but are easily downloaded. DVD-DLs are a buck vs the games are $60. Win. Cons: You gunna' get LiveBanned. Pros: 360 Arcades for $100, so you can play one or two really awesome games you paid for online and pirate the rest on your XBrick. Yarr!

PS3 - Locked tighter than a bitch. BlueRay blanks are expensive, burners are still hella'spensive, and so far it can't play unsigned code. No fun.

To a extent yes, it would certainty bring about new and interesting games. I'd like to see more attempts at innovating new game genres and sub-genres from what most consider the video-game capital of the world. The Japanese are not their only fan base, but they treat it as such even though japan is such a small market in comparison to NA or EU markets. Its just not good business sense to alienate themselves in such a way.

I would like to see more unique jp games released in america because everything else I pick up to play feels like im playing the same game that I played before over and over again.

For as much as I doubt they would, it would be nice to see the Japs broaden their market. They come at games with a completely different mindset than western developers, so they'd be more likely to try something other than first/third person shooter clones or RPGs that are at lest 10 hours of cutscenes.
