the recoil really isn't that bad. i was taught to shoot a revolver with a s&w model 19 with a 4" barrel and the recoil is comparable. the flame is indeed impressive. i was messing around with it the other night and stood off to the side and watched while my friend fired it, and the flash also squeezes out between the cylinder and barrel a little, creating a very cool silhouette.

i'd say get one. you can find a brand new rossi for around $300. it's accurate enough, but not a target shooter by any means. (not that you'd expect that from a barrel that short.) the recoil isn't much worse than a larger .357. they're also the small J frame, and works pretty well as a concealed carry gun.

I don't think he's trolling. For someone who's not a deagler or otherwise gun enthusiast, it's a reasonable question. And for a lot of people it's collecting, like people with comic books. Only guns are a lot more useful and are liquid in terms of investment. Granted 5,000 is an exaggeration for all but the most bad-assed, but I bet this is a common thought among most of today's public.

i own a shotty for home protection and have considered buying a pistol for legal concealed carry, but I too have questions for people who have dozens of automatic weapons and tens of thousands of shells and bullets stockpiled in their home/fortress. I understand a hobbyist might have a few nice ones on display, like people people who likes swords etc, but really, as much fun as shooting can be, is it really normal behavior?

I always prefered this 4-position stock to the newer 6 position slanted LE style stocks.

Well, depends on how solidly built they are, doesn't it? Honestly, I have pretty long arms, so a six-er gives me more options to choose from so I'm not over- or under-reaching. But as for stability/wobbliness, well, a four-spot might give a more solid feel, but less useability, if, like me, you have ridiculously long arms.
